Are you looking to start a career in Special Educational Needs (SEN) teaching? Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people to reach their full potential?

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee SEN Teacher to work across a variety of schools and specialist settings throughout Northamptonshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their teaching skills, gain hands-on experience and explore different SEN environments, with opportunities for both short-term and long-term placements.

Whether you have previous experience working with children and young people or are looking to take the next step in your education career, we would love to hear from you!

The Role

  • Work across a range of SEN schools and specialist provisions throughout Northamptonshire, depending on school requirements and your experience.

  • Support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, learning difficulties and complex needs.

  • Help plan and deliver engaging, accessible learning activities tailored to pupils' individual needs.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

  • Work alongside experienced teachers, teaching assistants and wider school teams to support pupils' development.

  • Gain experience through a mixture of short-term supply, longer-term placements and potential ongoing opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

  • The confidence to work in different school environments and adapt to individual pupils' needs.

  • Previous experience in education, childcare, coaching, mentoring, youth work or support work would be beneficial.

  • A willingness to learn, develop new skills and build a career within SEN education.

You do not necessarily need to be a qualified teacher for this opportunity. We welcome applications from individuals looking to gain classroom experience and develop their skills within special education.
