Job Description

Cover Supervisor - Warrington - Secondary Schools

Location: Warrington, Cheshire
Pay: Up to £120 per day, dependent on experience
Contract: Daily supply, short-term and long-term opportunities
Working Pattern: Full-time and part-time opportunities available

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools throughout Warrington.

We are looking for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates, sports coaches and individuals with experience working with young people who are confident managing groups and interested in working within secondary education.

With opportunities ranging from flexible daily supply to longer-term placements, these roles are suitable for candidates seeking regular school-based work, a flexible schedule or valuable experience before progressing into teacher training.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher to become a Cover Supervisor.

What Does a Cover Supervisor Do?

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll supervise secondary school classes when their usual teacher is absent, ensuring pupils remain focused and complete the work provided.

Lessons will generally have been prepared in advance, so your main responsibility is to maintain a positive learning environment rather than plan and deliver your own curriculum.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson activities and instructions

  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining clear expectations

  • Ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task

  • Supporting pupils with the work provided

  • Following school safeguarding and behaviour policies

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff

  • Covering different curriculum subjects and year groups

Who Are We Looking For?

We're particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with children or young people and can demonstrate confidence, resilience and strong communication skills.

Relevant backgrounds include:

  • Cover Supervisors and Unqualified Teachers

  • Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants

  • Sports coaches and activity leaders

  • Youth workers and mentors

  • Tutors and education support professionals

  • Graduates considering a career in teaching

  • Individuals with experience supervising groups of young people

Previous secondary school experience is desirable but not essential, provided you can demonstrate relevant experience and the ability to manage a classroom confidently.

Successful candidates will be adaptable, professional and comfortable establishing boundaries while building positive relationships with pupils.
