Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Geology and Applied Science Teacher to join an established sixth form college in Warrington on an immediate, short-term basis.

This is a genuine live vacancy, initially running until October half-term 2026, and represents an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher or experienced post-16 lecturer with the specialist knowledge required to deliver both subjects.

The college is looking for someone who can quickly integrate into the teaching team, maintain continuity of learning and deliver engaging lessons across Geology and Applied Science.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering both subjects to post-16 learners, ensuring students receive consistent, high-quality teaching throughout the assignment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching Geology and Applied Science to college students

  • Planning and delivering engaging theoretical and practical lessons

  • Supporting students with scientific knowledge, investigation and analysis

  • Assessing learning and providing constructive feedback

  • Maintaining continuity with existing schemes of work

  • Supporting students with coursework and assessment preparation where required

  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

  • Working collaboratively with teaching colleagues and curriculum leaders

Please note: The successful candidate must be able to teach both Geology and Applied Science.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Hold QTS, QTLS, PGCE or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification

  • Have strong subject knowledge in both Geology and Applied Science

  • Have relevant teaching or lecturing experience

  • Are confident delivering lessons to post-16 students

  • Can adapt quickly to an established curriculum

  • Have strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Can provide effective assessment and feedback

  • Are available to start immediately and commit until October half-term

Experience teaching in a sixth form college or further education setting would be advantageous.

Candidates with a background in Earth Sciences, Geology or related scientific disciplines are encouraged to apply, provided they have the necessary teaching experience and can confidently deliver both subjects.

About the College

The position is based at an established sixth form college in the Warrington area, providing education to post-16 students.

The college requires a teacher who can provide immediate continuity across two specialist subject areas and support students through the remainder of the current half-term.

This assignment may particularly suit an experienced teacher or lecturer who is currently available for short-term work and enjoys working with older students.
