The average class size is 8 pupils, and the school have a 1:4 staff to pupil ratio meaning there is full-time TA support in every class.
The school has a very strong philosophy of play while at the same time encouraging self-confidence, independence and a love of learning. They prepare children to move on to a selection of top independent schools, predominantly in North West London, entry to which is mainly by competitive assessment. The school provides a happy, cheerful and caring environment in which children can develop at their own pace and in which a natural love of learning can flourish.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about caring for Early Years pupils, be able to use their initiative and have good communication skills, both written and verbal. A knowledge of the EYFS is essential for this role.
The school are looking for an Early Years Nursery Teacher who possesses:
*Recent experience of teaching in EYFS (including through PGCE placements if an NQT)
*A sound knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in the Early Years Foundation Stage
*Knowledge of effective strategies to include and meet the needs of all pupils, in particular underachieving pupils, and those with SEN and EAL Familiarisation
*An understanding of curriculum and pedagogical issues relating to learning and teaching
*The ability to monitor, assess, record and report pupil progress, in line with school policy, and use this to inform future planning
*A flexible approach to work, with good interpersonal skills with the ability to enthuse and motivate others
The core duties of this Early Years Nursery Teacher role are:
*Work as a team with fellow Nursery year group teachers, meeting formally at least once a week
*Update fellow teachers of any new teaching styles/findings you have found
*Ensure that the year group works effectively, smoothly and in tandem, as part of a four form Nursery teaching team
*Manage pupil progress socially and academically whilst tracking the progress of individual pupils within your class using Tapestry and children's individual Learning Journals.
*Be involved in decision making and policy development across the school in consultation with whole staff, where appropriate
*Produce comprehensive weekly plans for the seven areas of learning
