Are you a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge in an Alternative Provision in Accrington?
Tradewind are currently looking for a hardworking, ambitious experienced behaviour specialist teaching assistant to join and thriving Alternative Provision in Accrington starting as soon as possible until July 2021. This role is currently for 5 days a week with the potential to go temporary to permanent.
As a Secondary teaching assistant your job will be to support pupils across KS3 to KS4 by working with small groups of pupils to enhance their learning and academic development. Your role will involve supporting pupils with behaviour difficulties. Experience is not essential however, a patient and determined character is needed. You will be supporting pupils with EHC Plans and Social and Emotional Behaviour Difficulties.
The Secondary Alternative provision is looking for someone who has ideally, but not essentially, have a level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning as well as recent and relevant experience in a similar role. You must also have a passion for working with Secondary aged pupils and be dedicated to making a positive impact on their learning and development. Team Teach desirable however training can be offered.
As per Department for Education (DfE) guidelines you will need to be able to provide full identification copies and reference details from the relevant experience you have previously gained in this or a similar setting.
The Alternative Provision is easy accessible with public transport and additionally if you are driving it has free car parking. There will be the opportunity to study towards further qualifications and training.
Essentials:
- Previous experience working with challenging behaviours
- Full commitment to the young person
- Calm in a crisis
- Good use of de-escalation strategies (you will be asked for an example at interview)
- This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
- Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
- You must have the legal right to work in the UK
