We're recruiting heavily in preparation for high demand from mainstream primary schools across Blackpool and Fylde for September 2025! If you're a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker passionate about providing crucial emotional and behavioural support to students with special educational needs in a nurturing mainstream environment, this could be the perfect fit for you.

In this vital role, you'll be instrumental in supporting students with SEN, helping them navigate emotional and behavioural challenges within a mainstream primary setting. You'll work closely with students, families, and staff to create a supportive and understanding atmosphere. This is a term-time position, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of £14.25 - £15.25 per hour.

The types of special educational needs you might be supporting can include: Autism (ASD), Asperger's, Cerebral Palsy, behavioural challenges, and students working at below expected academic levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group pastoral support.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies and non physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Offer support to students during challenging periods or transitions.
  • Work in synergy with the SLT and SENCO to support the child in question.
  • Liaise with families, external agencies, and school staff to ensure holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and student progress.
  • Help students develop vital social skills and emotional regulation.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience supporting young people with behavioural challenges.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and its impact on emotional well-being.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with children and adults.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
