Attendance Officers - Secondary Schools in Hammersmith and Fulham


Contract Type: Full-time
Contract Term: Temporary with long-term opportunities available
Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier)
Salary: £14.00-£16.00 per hour (depending on experience, paid via PAYE)

Tradewind Recruitment / SANZA Teaching Agency is working with several vibrant and inclusive secondary schools in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to recruit experienced Attendance Officers.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled school support professionals who are confident using SIMS and understand the importance of school attendance in driving student outcomes.

About the Role

The Attendance Officer plays a vital role in promoting high levels of student attendance and punctuality. Working closely with pastoral teams, parents, and external agencies, the successful candidate will monitor, track, and report on attendance data while supporting students to re-engage with their learning.

Key responsibilities as Attendance Officers would include:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and following up on unexplained absences using SIMS.
  • Making phone calls and sending communications to parents/carers regarding student absence.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and producing attendance reports for senior leaders.
  • Liaising with Heads of Year, Safeguarding Leads, and the Local Authority where attendance concerns arise.
  • Supporting attendance panels, home visits, and intervention plans where necessary.
  • Promoting a positive attendance culture across the school community.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance procedures and safeguarding policies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working in a school environment (essential).
  • Strong knowledge and use of SIMS to manage and report attendance data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to handle confidential data responsibly.
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing multiple tasks.
  • A genuine commitment to improving student wellbeing and outcomes.
