Learning Mentor - Secondary Schools - Newham
September 2025 Start | Full-Time | Supporting Student Progress & Wellbeing

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentors to work across a number of secondary schools in Newham, starting in September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in overcoming barriers to learning and help them thrive both academically and personally.

📍 Role Details:

  • Location: Various secondary schools in Newham

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only

  • Duration: Full academic year (with potential for extension)

  • Salary: Competitive daily rate (based on experience)

🔑 Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students struggling with behaviour, engagement, or personal challenges

  • Supporting students to develop positive learning habits, confidence, and motivation

  • Working closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and pastoral leads

  • Helping to implement individual learning and behaviour plans

  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor for students across year groups

✅ Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or mentoring capacity

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with students

  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their full potential

  • A relevant qualification or degree is desirable, but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
