Student Support Officer - Kettering
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Long-Term or Permanent Role

We're working with several secondary schools and academies in Kettering who are seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer to join their pastoral teams from September 2025. This full-time role is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, pastoral care, behaviour support, or mentoring-particularly those looking to make a meaningful difference in an educational setting.
What You'll Be Doing:
Supporting students with emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges on a 1:1 and small group basis
Working closely with pastoral leaders, teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to deliver tailored interventions
Building positive, trusted relationships with students to encourage resilience, self-regulation, and engagement
Assisting with behaviour management and restorative practice across the school
Monitoring attendance and punctuality, and liaising with families to improve student outcomes
Contributing to safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe, respectful school environment
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support capacity
A calm, empathetic, and professional approach to supporting vulnerable or at-risk students
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
A good understanding of pastoral care, behaviour for learning, or safeguarding in schools
The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a wider support team
Relevant qualifications (e.g., in youth work, counselling, or behaviour support) are a bonus but not essential
