Lead Practitioner - Geography

Location: Kettering
Start Date: September 2025 | Full-Time | Permanent

We are working with forward-thinking secondary schools in Kettering that are seeking a Lead Practitioner of Geography to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to lead innovation, mentor colleagues, and raise achievement in a thriving subject area.

About the Role:

  • Take a leading role in developing high-quality teaching and learning within the Geography department and across the wider school

  • Model outstanding classroom practice and support the professional development of teaching staff

  • Lead on curriculum design, assessment strategies, and enrichment activities for Geography

  • Use data effectively to identify gaps, raise attainment, and improve outcomes for all students

  • Drive forward whole-school improvement priorities through research-informed practice

  • Contribute to staff training, lesson observations, coaching, and mentoring programmes

  • Work closely with the Head of Humanities and senior leadership to raise standards and inspire a love of Geography

We're Looking For:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with strong subject knowledge in Geography

  • Proven track record of delivering consistently excellent teaching and student outcomes

  • A commitment to inclusive, student-centred education and high academic expectations

  • Experience of leading on departmental or whole-school initiatives (e.g. curriculum, pedagogy, CPD)

  • A passion for Geography and the ability to bring the subject to life for diverse learners

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills

  • A collaborative mindset and drive to make a wider impact beyond the classroom
