We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Tameside for a Support Assistant to work closely with pupils aged 11-16 who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or behavioural difficulties.
This is a highly rewarding role where your support can help pupils re-engage with their learning and develop positive relationships both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role:
Providing individual and small-group support to students
Supporting pupils to manage their emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning
Assisting teachers in creating a calm, supportive, and safe learning environment
Acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support
We're Looking For:
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or in alternative provision (preferred but not essential)
A calm, empathetic, and confident approach
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure
A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
