Job Title: BSL Communications Support Worker
Location: Haringey, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Are you a passionate and skilled BSL (British Sign Language) user looking to make a real difference in the lives of deaf children? We are seeking a dedicated Communications Support Worker to join a vibrant Special School in Haringey, supporting pupils across primary and secondary age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide communication support using BSL to ensure full access to lessons and school activities
Work 1:1 and in small groups to support pupils' learning, social, and emotional development
Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to adapt learning materials and activities for deaf students
Encourage independence and promote inclusion within the classroom and wider school environment
Support pupils in developing confidence, communication skills, and self-advocacy
Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment for all students
Requirements:
BSL qualification (minimum Level 2, ideally Level 3+)
Previous experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
