Job Title: BSL Communications Support Worker
Location: Haringey, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Are you a passionate and skilled BSL (British Sign Language) user looking to make a real difference in the lives of deaf children? We are seeking a dedicated Communications Support Worker to join a vibrant Special School in Haringey, supporting pupils across primary and secondary age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide communication support using BSL to ensure full access to lessons and school activities

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to support pupils' learning, social, and emotional development

  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to adapt learning materials and activities for deaf students

  • Encourage independence and promote inclusion within the classroom and wider school environment

  • Support pupils in developing confidence, communication skills, and self-advocacy

  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment for all students

Requirements:

  • BSL qualification (minimum Level 2, ideally Level 3+)

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments

  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
