One-to-One SEN Teaching Assistant - Barking and Dagenham

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant 1:1
Location: Barking and Dagenham (easy access via the distric line, local busses and by car with onsite parking)
Year group: KS2 - Supporting a child 1:1 with SEN
Hours: 8:30 - 3:15, term time only. You must be available to work Monday to Friday.
Pay: £90 - £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a welcoming and nurturing 2-form entry primary school in Barking and Dagenham, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This role will involve working one-to-one with a KS2 child who requires additional support due to complex SEN needs, including SEMH, ASD and ADHD.

The successful candidate will be someone who can hit the ground running, with strong experience in supporting children with SEN. You'll demonstrate passion and commitment to helping children thrive, alongside a solid understanding of strategies that enable them to access learning. These include differentiation, behaviour management, emotional regulation techniques and developing independence.

Qualities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEN, particularly SEMH, ASD and ADHD.
  • Knowledge of differentiation and how to adapt learning tasks.
  • Ability to use strategies for emotional regulation and behaviour support.
  • Patience, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents. Knowledge of PECs and Makaton is desirable.
  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to building positive relationships.

TA Compliance Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Minimum of two professional references covering the last two years.
  • Up-to-date CV with a full employment history.
  • Relevant SEN experience within a school or childcare setting.
