Use your trade to transform young lives.
Are you a skilled construction professional looking to make a real difference? Do you believe in giving second chances and teaching through doing? We're working with an alternative provision in Wellingborough that supports students aged 11-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion. They're looking for a Construction Tutor who can deliver practical, engaging lessons that build confidence, character, and career-ready skills.
This is your chance to move from the site to the classroom-where your knowledge can become a powerful tool for change.
Your Role Will Include:
Planning and leading hands-on sessions in areas like basic carpentry, brickwork, painting & decorating, and site safety
Delivering tailored lessons that focus on vocational skills and practical learning outcomes
Creating a calm, structured, and engaging workshop environment
Supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs through patient, positive teaching
Encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and a strong work ethic
Working closely with a supportive pastoral team to promote engagement, behaviour, and well-being
Playing a key role in helping students re-engage with education and prepare for post-16 pathways
What We're Looking For:
A background in construction or multi-trade (carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, etc.)
Some experience delivering training or mentoring (a teaching qualification is a bonus but not essential - PTLLS, AET, DTLLS, QTS/QTLS all welcome)
Confidence working with young people who may be disengaged or have behavioural challenges
A calm, resilient, and supportive approach to working in a non-mainstream setting
Strong communication skills, a sense of humour, and a genuine passion for vocational education
A desire to be part of a close-knit, values-driven team committed to making a difference
What You'll Get:
A full-time, long-term opportunity with potential for permanent placement
The chance to make a lasting impact through hands-on, real-world teaching
Ongoing CPD including behaviour management, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice
Weekly pay and dedicated support throughout your placement
A rewarding, dynamic role where every day brings new challenges and victories
A place in a school that values patience, purpose, and progress
