Job Description

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - KS1 Behaviour Support

Location: Camden, London
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: After October Half Term
Pay: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Agency: Tradewind Recruitment

A role that matters, support where it's needed most.

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a forward-thinking primary school in Camden to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with significant behavioural needs.

This is not a routine classroom support role. You will work closely with a single child, acting as a consistent, calm and grounded presence throughout the school day. The focus is on building trust, encouraging engagement, and helping the pupil access learning in a meaningful way.

About the Role:

  • Full-time position based within a mainstream Camden primary school

  • 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with behavioural and emotional regulation difficulties

  • Close collaboration with the SENCO, class teacher, and external professionals

  • Ongoing input into behaviour strategies, support plans and progress tracking

  • Potential for long-term placement with training and career development opportunities

The School Offers:

  • A leadership team invested in inclusive, trauma-informed practice

  • A strong commitment to staff development and wellbeing

  • A structured support network for TAs working with high-need pupils

  • A calm, purposeful learning environment with clear routines and expectations

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with behavioural needs, SEMH, or additional learning needs

  • A calm, reflective approach to managing challenging behaviour

  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the individual child

  • Confidence in working independently while following wider team guidance

  • Any training in Team Teach, de-escalation, or similar is desirable but not essential

This role would suit someone who understands that progress can be slow but meaningful, and who sees value in being a reliable adult for a child navigating complex emotions in the classroom.

If you're looking for a role where you can have a direct, tangible impact every day, we'd like to hear from you.
