Job Description

Classroom Behaviour Support Specialist - Blackpool Secondary School

Full-Time Role | Long-Term Contract | Immediate Start Available

Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025 (or sooner!)

Are you an experienced and resilient professional with a proven track record of managing and supporting challenging behaviour directly within the classroom environment?

A dynamic secondary school in Blackpool is seeking a dedicated Classroom Behaviour Support Specialist to join their team. This is a crucial, full-time role focused on managing student conduct and providing immediate intervention to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Role: On-Site Behaviour Management

You will be embedded within the classroom, working alongside teachers to maintain a focused and positive learning atmosphere. This is a hands-on role dedicated to proactive and reactive behaviour strategies.

  • In-Class Intervention: Provide expert, immediate support to students displaying challenging or disruptive behaviour within the classroom setting, aiming to quickly re-engage the learner.

  • Behaviour Strategy Implementation: Confidently and calmly implement bespoke behaviour support plans and specialised de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations before they escalate.

  • Collaboration: Work directly with subject teachers to advise on classroom management techniques, differentiate strategies for specific pupils, and ensure consistency across the curriculum.

  • Mentor-ship: Act as a key role model and mentor, building trusting relationships with identified pupils to improve their self-regulation and adherence to school conduct policies.

  • Data & Reporting: Accurately record and report on behavioural incidents and interventions, contributing to the review of individual support plans.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant, demonstrable experience in managing and supporting children or young people (age 11+) with challenging behaviour and associated SEMH needs.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and discreetly within a busy classroom environment, without disrupting the teaching flow.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.

  • Exceptional personal resilience, a calm and authoritative presence, and a non-judgemental approach to pupils with complex barriers to learning.

  • Commitment to a full-time, long-term role.

The Offer

  • Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract (potential for permanent conversion).

  • Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025, or ASAP.

  • Location: Blackpool Secondary School.

  • Salary: Highly competitive pay, reflective of the specialist nature of the role (paid on a support staff scale).

If you are ready to be the anchor for positive behaviour in a Blackpool secondary school classroom, we encourage you to apply.

To apply, please submit your CV and a brief covering letter detailing your specific experience managing behaviour within a mainstream classroom environment to rachael.boaler@twrecruitment.com or click apply.
