We're working with a network of well-regarded and welcoming secondary schools in Northampton, who are looking for confident and capable Cover Teachers to join their teams from October 2025.

What is a Cover Teacher?

As a Cover Teacher, you'll step in to deliver pre-prepared lessons when subject teachers are absent. Whether you're covering English, Maths, Science or another subject, your role is to ensure continuity of learning, maintain classroom routines, and inspire students to stay on task.

This role is perfect for qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS) who enjoy the variety of working across different departments-or educators with experience in unqualified teaching roles looking for a consistent, full-time placement.

Key Duties Will Include:

  • Delivering pre-set lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Maintaining a positive, focused classroom environment

  • Managing student behaviour in line with school policies

  • Providing brief feedback to subject teachers and senior staff

  • Supporting school routines such as break duties and transitions

  • Acting as a positive role model for students throughout the school day

Who We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) OR substantial classroom experience in a teaching role

  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to adapt across different subjects when required

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Confident communicator with a calm and professional approach

  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting student learning

  • An interest in long-term opportunities or future permanent roles
