Supporting Children with Autism and Communication Needs in EYFS and KS1

Location: Dagenham
Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term Time Only
Pay: £90+ per day (PAYE)
Start Date: Monday 3rd November
Access: On-site parking and good transport links via District Line and bus routes

About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in Dagenham. You'll support pupils in EYFS and KS1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and communication needs, helping them develop social, emotional, and learning skills in a nurturing environment.

Experience with PECS or other visual communication tools is desirable, alongside a calm, structured, and patient approach.

We are looking for someone who:

Has SEN experience, particularly with ASD in EYFS or KS1
Understands communication and sensory needs
Is nurturing, patient, and consistent in setting boundaries
Works well with teachers, SENCOs, and professionals
Is reliable and committed to supporting early learning and children with SEN

Requirements:

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Recent references covering the last two years
Full employment history with explanations for gaps
Relevant qualifications/training (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, SEN or EYFS experience)
