Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAP / January 2026
Pay: £90-£110 per day (depending on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive Alternative Provision setting in Wellingborough. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to students who require additional support, both academically and emotionally.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant within the Alternative Provision department, you'll be working with students aged 11-16 who may have social, emotional, or behavioural needs (SEMH) or other special educational needs (SEN). You'll support them in small group or one-to-one sessions, helping to build confidence, promote positive behaviour, and re-engage them with learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing classroom and pastoral support under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO

  • Supporting students with individual learning plans and behaviour strategies

  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and progress

  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored interventions and activities

  • Promoting a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Empathetic, patient, and adaptable

  • Confident in building positive relationships with young people

  • Experienced in supporting students with SEMH, ASD, or other additional needs (desired but not essential)

  • A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a team

  • Resilient and able to remain calm under pressure

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)

  • Relevant experience in education, youth work, or a similar setting
