We're recruiting Pastoral Support Workers to join caring and inclusive secondary schools across Northampton from ASAP or January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with students who may need extra guidance with attendance, emotional wellbeing, or behaviour-helping them to feel supported, understood, and ready to achieve their best.

About the Role:

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you'll be a key member of the school's wellbeing team, providing practical and emotional support to students both in and out of the classroom. You'll help maintain a safe, positive learning environment and build trusting relationships that enable young people to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions to support emotional and social development

  • Support attendance, punctuality, and behaviour strategies through regular check-ins and monitoring

  • Act as a trusted adult for students who need additional emotional or behavioural support

  • Assist in managing reflection or reset rooms to promote restorative approaches

  • Work with staff and parents to address barriers to learning and wellbeing

  • Contribute to safeguarding processes by identifying and escalating concerns appropriately

  • Promote inclusion, respect, and resilience across the school community

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, or a similar setting

  • A calm, empathetic, and confident approach to managing behaviour and emotional needs

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues

  • A positive team player who's passionate about student wellbeing and inclusion

  • Understanding of safeguarding practices (training can be provided)
