SEND Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEMH School, Enfield
Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs thrive in education? Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist SEMH school in Enfield, seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team from January 2026.
This forward-thinking school caters for pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism and associated learning difficulties. The school's ethos is centred on building trust, understanding, and emotional safety - creating a space where pupils are truly heard and supported. With a curriculum grounded in creativity, structure and therapeutic practice, every member of staff plays a key role in helping pupils achieve success both academically and personally.
Your Role
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and complex needs
Support students in regulating emotions and developing positive coping strategies
Assist teachers in delivering an engaging, adaptable curriculum
Encourage independence, resilience and confidence in learning
Build strong relationships with pupils through consistency, patience and empathy
Promote wellbeing and emotional regulation through calm, restorative approaches
What We're Looking For
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or SEND
A calm, resilient and compassionate approach to behaviour management
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting learners who need a different kind of education
Team Teach or similar de-escalation training (or willingness to train)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
