Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across a number of welcoming and high-achieving secondary schools in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced classroom supervisors looking to gain valuable experience in secondary education.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will supervise classes, deliver pre-set work, and ensure that students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout the lesson. This is an exciting and varied position that allows you to experience a wide range of school environments while supporting pupils' learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising students in the absence of their usual class teacher

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies

  • Encouraging positive attitudes to learning and participation

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff about pupil progress and behaviour

  • Building rapport with pupils and fostering a safe, respectful learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident, organised, and capable of managing a classroom environment

  • Passionate about supporting young people and promoting positive behaviour

  • Adaptable and able to think on their feet in a fast-paced setting

  • Educated to degree level (or have relevant classroom experience)

  • Interested in a future career in teaching or education support

Previous experience working with young people, whether in a school, sports coaching, tutoring, or youth work setting, would be highly beneficial. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
