Job Description

Role Purpose: Beyond the Virtual Classroom

We are seeking a highly motivated, Mobile Virtual Teacher to join our supportive Alternative Provision (AP) team serving students across the Accrington area. This is a unique, hybrid role that combines expert online teaching with essential community-based engagement.

You will provide tailored education to students who cannot access mainstream settings due to complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) barriers. This requires not only technical proficiency but also the ability to be highly mobile to facilitate essential home visits, community workshops, and multi-agency meetings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Curriculum Delivery

  • Virtual Expertise: Plan and deliver engaging, highly interactive synchronous (live) and asynchronous online lessons, primarily across KS3 and KS4.

  • Platform Proficiency: Utilise and manage various online platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams) to deliver content, track assignments, and maintain student records.

  • Differentiation: Expertly adapt curriculum content to meet the diverse learning, emotional, and access needs of students with complex SEMH/EBD profiles.

  • Progress Tracking: Conduct regular remote assessments and provide detailed, constructive feedback tailored to remote learning.

2. Mobility, Community & Engagement

  • Home Visits: Conduct essential home visits (following safe policy protocols) to establish rapport, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve student attendance and engagement in the virtual learning programme.

  • Community Workshops: Facilitate small group social activities and learning community workshops in local, accessible settings to support students' social skills and reintegration goals.

  • Highly Mobile: Be fully prepared and willing to travel regularly within the Accrington area for all in-person duties.

3. Professional Collaboration

  • Liaison: Actively hold meetings and share plans with professionals (e.g., CAMHS, Social Workers, Local Authority representatives) to ensure a unified, holistic approach to each student's care and education plan.

  • Safeguarding: Act as a key point of contact, monitoring student well-being in both the virtual and physical environment, and ensuring rigorous safeguarding protocols are always followed.

Why Join Our Accrington AP Team?

  • Hybrid Role: Enjoy the flexibility of remote teaching combined with meaningful in-person student and professional engagement.

  • Competitive Pay: Attractive salary package up to £30,000.

  • Impact: Directly transform the lives of young people who struggle most with school access.

  • Start Date: Secure your role now for January 2026 (or start sooner if available).
