Are you an experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate practitioner with a passion for supporting children and young people on the autism spectrum? Do you excel at understanding individual needs, building trust, and creating structured, calm learning environments? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistants to work across our partner schools in Corby.

This role is ideal for professionals with a background in ASC support - whether from a mainstream school, SEND provision, care environment, or therapeutic setting. You will play a vital part in helping autistic learners access the curriculum, develop communication skills, regulate their emotions and build confidence within the classroom.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils with autism on a 1:1 basis or within small groups

  • Using autism-informed strategies such as visual timetables, task breakdowns, sensory regulation activities and consistent routines

  • Helping pupils navigate social situations and transitions around the school

  • Assisting with learning activities, adapting tasks where necessary

  • Supporting emotional regulation using positive, low-arousal and consistent approaches

  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals

  • Encouraging independence, resilience and self-esteem

  • Maintaining a calm, predictable and supportive learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience supporting autistic children or young people (essential)

  • Familiarity with autism-specific strategies and interventions

  • A patient, empathetic and structured approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team

  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting the well-being of every pupil

  • A valid enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
