Tradewind Recruitment - 1:1 Support Assistant Opportunity (SEMH Focus)

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a supportive specialist setting to recruit a 1:1 Support Assistant for a pupil with significant social, emotional and behavioural needs. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, steady under pressure and committed to helping young people grow in confidence and stability.

The pupil spends part of the school day within a dedicated nurture/unit provision and the remainder in a classroom environment. You will provide consistent support across both settings, helping the pupil manage emotions, build positive interactions and stay engaged with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer personalised 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH and behavioural challenges

  • Promote emotional regulation and reinforce positive behaviour strategies

  • Support learning both in the main classroom and within the school's specialised unit

  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to maintain a structured routine

  • Encourage confidence, independence and improved engagement

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs

  • Be patient, understanding and able to remain calm during difficult situations

  • Build trusting relationships and provide consistent boundaries

  • Follow tailored support plans and contribute to the pupil's progress

  • Be reliable, proactive and genuinely motivated to make a difference
