Job Description
Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a nurturing Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term position in Whitefield, supporting a Reception-aged child with additional needs. This role is suited to someone patient, calm, and experienced in supporting children with communication or social development difficulties.
You will work one-to-one with a child who benefits from structure, reassurance, and personalised support. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will help the pupil access learning in a way that best suits their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support for a child in the Reception class.
Assist with communication strategies, visual aids, and structured routines.
Support play-based learning and early development tasks.
Help the pupil transition smoothly between activities.
Encourage positive peer interactions and social skills.
Follow personalised targets and SEN support plans.
Record observations and update staff on progress.
Work with small groups when required.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly communication needs.
Knowledge of EYFS developmental milestones.
Calm, intuitive, and nurturing approach.
Able to build trust and strong relationships with young learners.
Training in PECs, Makaton, or similar (desirable, not essential).
