Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a nurturing Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term position in Whitefield, supporting a Reception-aged child with additional needs. This role is suited to someone patient, calm, and experienced in supporting children with communication or social development difficulties.

You will work one-to-one with a child who benefits from structure, reassurance, and personalised support. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will help the pupil access learning in a way that best suits their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a child in the Reception class.

  • Assist with communication strategies, visual aids, and structured routines.

  • Support play-based learning and early development tasks.

  • Help the pupil transition smoothly between activities.

  • Encourage positive peer interactions and social skills.

  • Follow personalised targets and SEN support plans.

  • Record observations and update staff on progress.

  • Work with small groups when required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly communication needs.

  • Knowledge of EYFS developmental milestones.

  • Calm, intuitive, and nurturing approach.

  • Able to build trust and strong relationships with young learners.

  • Training in PECs, Makaton, or similar (desirable, not essential).
