Tradewind Birmingham are seeking enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to provide crucial support to pupils across primary and secondary schools in Birmingham, with roles starting in January. This is your chance to make a profound difference in a child's life every single day.
- Deliver effective 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with diverse needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language difficulties).
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and assist students in accessing the curriculum using personalised strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction, and emotional regulation, fostering independence and confidence.
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs and create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with the pastoral team and other professionals, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with a range of special educational needs, in either a school or care setting, is essential (at least 6 months UK experience is highly desirable).
- Qualifications: A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, is desirable but not essential. Each school sets its own entry requirements.
- Skills: Patience, empathy, adaptability, a calm and resilient approach, and strong communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Compliance: The ability to obtain a suitable enhanced DBS check (or have one already on the Update Service) and obtain suitable references is required.
