SEND Teaching Assistant - Specialist Setting (Daventry)

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school in Daventry, supporting pupils with significant cognitive delay.

The school provides a structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils follow highly personalised learning pathways. Class sizes are small, enabling staff to deliver consistent, individualised support and to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who require a high level of guidance throughout the school day.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with significant cognitive delay in both classroom-based learning and daily routines. Your responsibilities will include providing one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils access learning through practical, sensory-based activities, and reinforcing communication, independence, and life skills. You will work closely with the class teacher to implement individual education plans and support pupils' progress in a calm and positive manner.

The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a strong understanding of the importance of routine, repetition, and consistency for pupils with significant cognitive delay. Experience with sensory learning approaches, structured support strategies, or personal care is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
