Secondary SEN Teacher - KS3 & KS4 Maths and Science
Location: Central London (primarily Islington) - libraries and community-based settings
Contract: January - July 2026 | Full-time | Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm | Term-time only
Salary: M1-M6 (dependent on experience)
Teaching Model: 1:1 tuition - Maths & Science
Requirement: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a committed and empathetic Secondary SEN Teacher to deliver 1:1 Maths and Science tuition to KS3-KS4 students who are currently missing from education.
This role supports young people who may be school avoidant or have complex SEMH, trauma-related needs, or additional vulnerabilities. Teaching takes place across a range of community settings, including libraries and alternative provisions, primarily within Islington and surrounding Central London areas. All locations are easily accessible by public transport.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 teaching in Maths and Science at KS3-KS4 level
Use trauma-informed, relational approaches to foster trust, engagement, and confidence
Develop and adapt individual learning plans aligned with EHCP outcomes
Support students with complex emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs
Teach flexibly across libraries, community spaces, and alternative education settings
Establish calm, consistent boundaries and promote emotional regulation strategies
Work collaboratively with parents/carers, SENCOs, social workers, and multi-agency teams
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Adapt resources to meet individual learning styles and needs
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Two professional references covering the past two years
Overseas police checks (where applicable)
Up-to-date safeguarding and Prevent training (or willingness to complete)
