Are you a resilient, compassionate educator looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking an Alternative Provision Teacher to join our specialist team in Burnley. Whether you are a Qualified Teacher (QTS) or an Unqualified Teacher with significant experience in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), we want to hear from you.
The Opportunity
This is a unique temp-to-perm role, allowing you to settle into our provision and ensure we are the right fit for you before committing to a permanent contract. You will be working with students who have been excluded from, or are at risk of excluding from, mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver an Adaptive Curriculum: Tailor lessons to engage students with complex learning needs, including ADHD, Autism (ASC), and SEMH.
Foster Emotional Growth: Use trauma-informed practices to help students manage their emotions and build self-esteem.
Small Group Instruction: Work with small class sizes (5-8 pupils) alongside dedicated Teaching Assistants.
Collaborative Support: Work closely with SLT and external agencies to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
Why Apply for this Burnley Teaching Role?
Competitive Pay: A salary of up to £32,000 based on your specific experience and qualifications.
Career Progression: A clear pathway from a temporary start to a permanent position.
Supportive Environment: Access to ongoing professional development and specialised training (e.g., Team Teach).
Local Impact: Serve the Burnley and wider Lancashire community in a highly rewarding setting.
Requirements:
Experience: Proven experience working with challenging behaviour or in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) or AP setting.
Qualifications: QTS/QTLS is preferred, but we highly encourage Unqualified Teachers or Instructors with a strong background in youth work or SEMH to apply.
Resilience: A calm, "fresh start" mindset and the ability to build rapport with hard-to-reach learners.
Commute: Must be able to travel to our site in Burnley.
