Location: Burnley, Lancashire (Commutable from Nelson, Colne, Blackburn)
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: ASAP
Are you an Outdoor Educator looking to move into a specialist setting?
We are seeking a high-energy, resilient Outdoor Education Teacher to join our Alternative Provision in Burnley. This role is perfect for someone who believes that the best learning often happens outside the four walls of a classroom.
Whether you are a Qualified Teacher (QTS) or an Unqualified Instructor with a background in Forest Schools, Bushcraft, or Adventure Training, your ability to engage "at-risk" youth through practical activity is what matters most.
The Role: Beyond the Classroom
In this position, you won't just be teaching; you will be using the outdoors as a tool for therapeutic intervention and engagement for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Curriculum Delivery: Leading outdoor learning, horticulture, or adventure-based sessions that align with personal development goals.
Student Engagement: Building trust with students who have disengaged from mainstream schooling.
Behavior Management: Using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practice in an open-air environment.
Temp-to-Perm: Secure a permanent contract after a successful initial period, providing long-term job security in Lancashire.
Key Candidate Requirements
Experience: Proven track record working with SEMH, ASC, or "challenging" behavior.
Passion for the Outdoors: Skills in Forest Schools, outdoor survival, sports, or practical land-based projects.
Resilience: The ability to stay calm and maintain boundaries while working with vulnerable young people.
Commute: Must be able to travel to our Burnley site daily.
Why Choose This Provision?
Salary: Competitive pay up to £32,000 (depending on experience).
Autonomy: Freedom to design engaging, hands-on outdoor sessions.
Impact: Support students in Burnley to gain confidence and qualifications through non-traditional pathways.
Support: Work within a tight-knit team with a high staff-to-student ratio.
