Support Role - Nurture Class
SEMH / ASC Specialist School

Lytham St. Annes

We are seeking a caring, resilient and dedicated Support Practitioner/Teaching Assistant/ Support Worker to work within a nurture class in our specialist SEMH / ASC school, supporting a small group of up to five pupils within a primary-style model.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and who understands the importance of consistency, relationships and emotional regulation in learning.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils within a small nurture class of up to 5 children

  • Working alongside the class teacher to deliver a primary-based curriculum

  • Providing emotional, behavioural and learning support throughout the school day

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social skills

  • Helping to create a calm, predictable and safe learning environment

  • Implementing nurture-based, trauma-informed and autism-aware strategies

  • Supporting EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEMH and/or ASC

  • Be calm, patient and emotionally resilient

  • Have strong behaviour support skills using positive and relational approaches

  • Be confident working with primary-aged learning approaches

  • Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills

  • Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
