SEN Teaching Assistant (Specialist provision within mainstream school).

Location: Blackpool (Mainstream All-Through Academy)

Contract Type: Temporary (Term Time Only)

Hours: Monday - Friday | 08:30 - 15:30

Duration: February Half

Term 2026 - July 2026

Salary: £13.88 - £14.50 per hour (Based on experience and qualifications)

The Role:

We are seeking a versatile and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team within our on-site Alternative Provision. This is a unique opportunity to work across our all-through Academy, supporting pupils of both primary and secondary age.

You will work with children who have a diverse range of cognitive, behavioural, and physical needs, providing the appropriate level of challenge and care to ensure they can succeed both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils within our Alternative Provision.

  • Support pupils with a wide spectrum of needs, including cognitive delays, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges.

  • Promote resilience in learners, helping them navigate a broad and ambitious curriculum.

  • Foster an environment of respect and integrity, ensuring all students feel safe and included.

  • Work collaboratively across all phases (Primary and Secondary) to provide consistency for our learners.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful, you must be a patient and empathetic professional who is committed to the wholehearted pursuit of excellence for every child.

  • Qualifications: Ideally a qualified Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, a specialist SEN TA, or possess significant experience in a similar care-based setting.

  • Experience: Essential experience working with SEN needs (Cognitive, Behavioural, and Physical).

  • Skills: The ability to provide a "nurture-first" approach while maintaining high academic and social expectations.

  • Ethos: A belief that every child deserves a stimulating environment in which to learn and play.
