Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistants

Location: Wigan & surrounding areas

Pay: £90 - £115 per day

Role: Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND)

Tradewind are recruiting!

Are you passionate about inclusive education? We are looking for patient, resilient, and empathetic individuals to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream primary settings across Wigan and Leigh.

In this role, you won't just be a staff member; you will be a champion for children who face barriers to learning, helping them achieve milestones that others might take for granted.

The Role

Tailored Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

Adaptation: Break down lesson plans into manageable tasks tailored to the child's specific Learning Plan or EHCP.

Emotional Regulation: Use de-escalation techniques and sensory breaks to help pupils stay engaged and calm.

Progress Tracking: Monitor and record small wins and developmental milestones to share with the SENCO and parents.

What You Bring

Compassion: A genuine desire to see every child succeed, regardless of their challenges.

Experience: Previous experience with SEND is highly valued, whether in a school, care, or personal setting.

Training: Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or Team-Teach is a significant advantage (but not essential).

Resilience: The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.

Why Choose This Path?

Deep Impact: See the direct results of your support on a child's confidence and ability.

Specialist Experience: Gain invaluable skills that are highly sought after in the education sector.
