SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham, East London
Setting: Secondary School

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive secondary school in Newham. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to support students with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, both in and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN to access the curriculum

  • Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans

  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion

  • Support students' academic, social and emotional development

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable)

  • Is patient, caring and resilient

  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Has a positive, proactive approach to supporting learning
