SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 1
Full-Time | Start After Half Term | West Ealing

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a mainstream primary school in West Ealing to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with mild autism and ADHD. This is a full-time position starting after half term, and the school is looking for someone consistent, experienced and confident in supporting children with additional needs.

The school is located close to the Elizabeth Line, making it easily accessible from across West London.


About the School

This is a well-organised mainstream primary school with clear routines and strong classroom structures in place. The leadership team is supportive, and there is an established SEN provision within the school. Staff work collaboratively and there is regular communication between teachers, support staff and the SENCO to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.

The Role

You will be supporting a Year 1 pupil with mild autism and ADHD within the classroom setting. The pupil is able to access the curriculum but requires support with focus, transitions and emotional regulation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing in-class support to help the pupil remain engaged and on task

  • Supporting with attention, routines and transitions throughout the school day

  • Implementing strategies to manage behaviour positively and consistently

  • Supporting learning activities in line with the class teacher's planning

  • Liaising with the class teacher and SENCO regarding progress and strategies

  • Encouraging independence while providing appropriate scaffolding

This role requires patience, consistency and confidence in managing behaviour within a KS1 setting.


Requirements

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Has previous SEN experience, particularly with autism and/or ADHD

  • Has experience working in UK primary schools

  • Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Understands the KS1 curriculum and classroom expectations

  • Is reliable and able to commit full-time from half term

This role is not suitable for candidates without prior school-based SEN experience.


Pay and Contract

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday

  • Long-term role starting after half term

  • PAYE employment

  • Competitive daily rate based on experience
