We are currently seeking a reliable, experienced Caretaker / Cleaner to join secondary schools across the London Borough of Merton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment and is looking for a stable, long-term role with room to grow.
About the Role:
As a Caretaker / Cleaner, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and site maintenance are consistently met. You will be working within a supportive and friendly school community that values professionalism and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
General cleaning duties across classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas
Ensuring the school site is clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times
Carrying out basic maintenance and reporting any repairs or health and safety concerns
Opening and securing the school premises as required
Supporting the smooth operation of the school environment for staff and students
Requirements:
Previous experience in a caretaker or cleaning role (school-based experience preferred)
Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking with a strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to maintaining a positive and professional school environment
