Job Description

Sports-Oriented Cover Supervisor & TA | Specialist Provision

Location: Burnley area (Alternative Provision)

Contract: Full-time / Term Time

Are you a resilient, active individual who can use the power of sport to change a young person's life?

We are a specialist school in Burnley supporting students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We believe that every pupil deserves a "Future Ready" education, and we are looking for a high-energy team player to help them get there.

The Opportunity

This isn't your average classroom role. We need someone who can bridge the gap between physical activity and academic progress. One hour you might be co-leading a PE session or managing an outdoor activity, and the next, you might be providing cover for a Food Tech or Art lesson.

What You'll Do

  • Be a Presence: Use your coaching or sporting background to engage pupils, build rapport, and de-escalate challenging situations through positive mentorship.
  • Cover & Support: Deliver pre-set lessons across our broad curriculum, maintaining high expectations and a calm environment.
  • Focus on the Future: Help our Year 11s prepare for local college courses in areas like Construction, Public Services, and Computing.
  • Collaborate: Work within an expert team of TAs, pastoral leads, and therapeutic staff to support the "whole child."

Why Our School?

  • Modern Facilities: We offer purpose-built spaces for Science, Art, Food Technology, and Design Technology, plus a dedicated outdoor learning area.
  • Proven Impact: We take pride in our results-every one of our recent leavers secured a place at a local college.
  • Burnley Roots: We are a community-focused school that prides itself on being a supportive "work family" for our staff.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Athletic & Resilient: You likely have a background in sports, the armed forces, or youth coaching. You aren't easily ruffled and have a "thick skin."
  • Adaptable: You are comfortable stepping into different subjects and can follow a lesson plan with confidence.
  • Relationship-Driven: You understand that for our pupils, a strong relationship with a trusted adult is the foundation for learning.

Ready to join a team that's making a real impact in Burnley? If you have the energy to keep up with our pupils and the heart to help them succeed, we want to hear from you.
