Job Description

The Role

Are you a resilient, passionate educator looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners? We are currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher to join a leading Alternative Provision in Colne.

In this role, you will take lead responsibility for a Class 6 group (small group setting). These students often face significant barriers to learning, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and neurodiversity. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, allowing you to ensure the school is the right fit for you before committing long-term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, adapted lessons to a small class of 6 students with complex SEN needs.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and calm learning environment.

  • Work closely with support staff to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) goals.

  • Manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: QTS/QTLS is preferred, but unqualified teachers with significant SEN or Alternative Provision experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with "at-risk" youth or students with SEMH/ASC.

  • Personal Attributes: High levels of empathy, resilience, and a "solutions-focused" mindset.

  • Availability: Must be able to start ASAP.

Why Join This Alternative Provision?

  • Competitive Pay: A salary of up to £32,000 based on experience.

  • Career Progression: Clear pathway from temporary contract to a permanent staff member.

  • Small Class Sizes: Focus on quality 1:1 interaction with only 6 students in your care.

  • Local Impact: Support the Colne community by helping re-engage students with their education.
