Male Teaching Assistants - SEN Support | Corby Area | Via Tradewind Recruitment

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Male Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in one of our valued client schools in the Corby area.

This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who have severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom may be non-verbal, alongside supporting students with a range of physical disabilities and additional complex needs. The successful candidates will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop communication skills, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.

As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work both 1:1 and within small groups, providing tailored support under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO. Patience, resilience and a calm, nurturing approach are essential, as pupils may require structured support, sensory strategies, and assistance with daily routines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with severe ASD and complex needs

  • Supporting non-verbal students using visual aids, communication tools and structured learning approaches

  • Assisting pupils with mobility or physical disabilities where required

  • Helping to manage behaviour positively through consistent routines and supportive strategies

  • Supporting students with personal development, engagement and social interaction

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN specialists and other support staff

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with SEN, ASD, or complex needs (school or care settings)

  • Be patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations

  • Be physically confident and comfortable supporting pupils with mobility needs

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
