Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Salary: £92- £95 per day (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time / Term-time only
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Corby. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and helping them succeed both academically and personally.

You will work closely with students who may experience anxiety, low mood, behavioural challenges, or other mental health difficulties, providing tailored support to help them engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

  • Help students regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies

  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting activities where required

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students

  • Assist with behaviour management and promote a calm learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback on wellbeing and engagement

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, or support settings)

  • Understanding of mental health challenges affecting young people

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations

Desirable

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, ADHD, autism, or trauma

  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, youth work, or mental health

  • Team Teach or behaviour management training
