Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in a specialist secondary provision in North London that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who require additional guidance, structure, and encouragement to succeed both academically and personally.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students aged 11-16 who may present with a range of needs including SEMH, behavioural challenges, ADHD, and autism. You will play a key role in helping students regulate their emotions, engage in learning, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students in and out of the classroom

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies

  • Helping pupils remain engaged with learning activities and classroom routines

  • Building positive and consistent relationships with students to promote trust and stability

  • Supporting teachers with classroom management and differentiated activities

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience in learners

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly in education, youth work, or care settings

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to remain consistent and supportive when managing challenging behaviour

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs

Previous experience working in a special school, PRU, SEMH setting, or alternative provision would be highly advantageous, but candidates with relevant transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.
