Job Description
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient PSHE & English Teacher to join a specialist alternative provision in North London supporting secondary-aged students who are unable to access mainstream education.
This role places a strong emphasis on PSHE, helping students develop the personal, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed both in education and beyond. You will also support the delivery of English lessons, helping students improve their literacy, communication, and confidence.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and re-engaging students who may have experienced barriers to education.
The Role
You will teach students aged 11-16 in small classes, many of whom may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or disrupted educational backgrounds. The role requires a patient and flexible teaching approach, with a focus on building strong relationships and creating a supportive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering engaging PSHE lessons covering topics such as wellbeing, relationships, personal development, and life skills
Supporting the teaching of English and literacy, helping students develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication
Creating differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with varying abilities and educational experiences
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal growth
Working closely with support staff and pastoral teams to ensure students receive consistent guidance
Building strong, positive relationships to help students re-engage with learning
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching PSHE, English, or a similar subject area at secondary level
Experience working with students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or within alternative provision is highly desirable
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
A calm, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting young people
Passion for helping students develop both academically and personally
Teachers from mainstream, special school, PRU, or alternative provision backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
