KS2 Teaching Assistant - SEMH & Trauma Support - Blackpool Academy

Location: Blackpool (Excellent links to M55 and central transport hubs)

Contract: Summer Term (13th April - 24th July)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, Term Time Only)

Rate of Pay: £14.24 per hour

Potential: Extension into the next academic year based on success (Sept 2026-July 2027).

The Opportunity

Are you a committed educator who believes that every child deserves a seat at the table? Our inclusive Blackpool Academy is seeking a resilient, empathetic, and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team.

This isn't just a "general" TA role. While you will support the wider class, your primary focus will be providing side-by-side support and 1:1 intervention for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, trauma, and vulnerable backgrounds. You will be the consistent "anchor" these learners need to navigate their school day successfully. Your aid will be to support learning and development to these children and supporting their access to learning in class.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing Consistency: Offering a stable, calm presence for children with complex emotional needs.

  • Curriculum Support: Assisting with the delivery of the KS2 curriculum, adapting tasks to ensure they are accessible and engaging.

  • Building Rapport: Using your emotional intelligence to form strong, trusting bonds with children who may find school challenging.

  • Behavioural Support: Utilising trauma-informed approaches to help children regulate their emotions and stay focused on learning.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Qualified: Ideally, you hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

  • Experienced: You have a solid understanding of the KS2 curriculum and a proven track record of working with SEMH or vulnerable learners.

  • Resilient: You understand that progress isn't always linear, and you remain committed during the tough days.

  • Inclusive: You align with our mission that no child should be left behind, as everyone deserves access to education.

Why Join Our Academy?

We are a school that prides itself on its heart. Located with easy access to both central Blackpool transport links and the motorway, we offer a supportive staff environment where your professional development is valued. For the right candidate, this summer term post is a "foot in the door" for a potential permanent role in the new academic year.
