Teaching Assistant - SEN Support (Trauma-Informed)
Location: Blackpool
Position Type: Full-Time / April - July
Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young children with additional needs? We are seeking a committed Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing, trauma-informed SEN support group in Blackpool.
This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have a range of special educational needs, including those who have experienced trauma. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and supported, enabling them to thrive both emotionally and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to Year 1 pupils within a small, supportive SEN group setting
- Implement trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and resilience
- Support the development of communication, social, and behavioural skills
- Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to individual support plans
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (SEN experience preferred)
- A good understanding of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to learn
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
