The Opportunity

Are you a compassionate educator with a "nurture-first" approach? Our inclusive Blackpool Academy is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a specific child in Key Stage 1 who has Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and has experienced trauma.

In KS1, building a sense of safety is the foundation for all learning. We are looking for someone who understands that "all behaviour is communication" and can provide the high-level consistency and patience required to help a young learner feel secure and ready to engage with school life.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Dedicated 1:1 Support: Providing constant, side-by-side emotional and academic support for one specific pupil.

  • Creating a Safe Space: Implementing trauma-informed strategies to manage triggers and help the child regulate their emotions.

  • Foundational Learning: Assisting with KS1 core skills (Phonics, early Literacy, and Numeracy) in a way that feels manageable and non-threatening for the child.

  • Building Trust: Developing a deep, professional rapport to become the child's "safe adult" within the school setting.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Qualified: Ideally, you hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

  • Trauma-Informed: You have prior experience or a strong understanding of SEMH and the impact of trauma on early childhood development.

  • Patient & Resilient: You can maintain a calm, neutral, and supportive presence even during challenging moments.

  • Early Years/KS1 Savvy: You have a working knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and how to adapt it for pupils with additional needs.

Why Join Our Academy?

We are a school that prides itself on its heart and its commitment to inclusion; we believe every child deserves access to education, no matter their starting point. Located with easy access to both central Blackpool transport links and the motorway, we offer a supportive environment where your impact will be seen and felt every single day.
