Job Description

SEN Teacher | Specialist ASC & SEMH Provision

Empower Resilience. Inspire Growth. Make a Real Impact.

Are you an adaptable and empathetic educator who thrives in a dynamic environment? We are looking for an exceptional SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team in Leyland.

This is a full-time (5 days a week) role within a specialist setting supporting pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We need a teacher who looks beyond the behaviour to find the potential underneath.

The Role: A Different Kind of Classroom

In this position, no two days are the same. You will be teaching a small group of pupils who require a bespoke, nurture-heavy approach to learning. Your focus will be on:

  • Inclusive Curriculum: Creating engaging, differentiated lessons that accommodate sensory needs and emotional regulation.
  • Relationship Building: Developing strong, trusting bonds with pupils to help them navigate social and emotional challenges.
  • Positive Behaviour Support: Implementing trauma-informed practices and de-escalation strategies to create a safe learning space.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with a team of specialist support staff and external therapists to deliver holistic care.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Primary or Secondary background. We welcome applications from experienced SEN teachers or mainstream teachers with a strong interest in SEMH/ASC.
  • Resilience & Patience: Someone who remains calm under pressure and views challenges as opportunities for growth.
  • Innovation: An educator who can think outside the box to re-engage students who may have had negative experiences with education.
  • Commitment: A professional dedicated to a full-time, 5-day-a-week schedule to provide the consistency our pupils need.

Why Join Our Leyland Team?

"Our school is a place of second chances. We provide the stability and specialist support that allows our students to finally feel successful in their learning journey."

  • Competitive Pay: Reflective of your experience and the specialist nature of the role.
  • Nurturing Environment: A collaborative staff team that prioritises wellbeing-for both students and teachers.
  • Specialist Training: Extensive CPD opportunities, including advanced training in SEMH strategies and ASC-specific pedagogy.
