Mental Health Support Worker - Make a Difference Every Day
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Workers to work within supportive school settings in Corby. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve emotional wellbeing, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
- Support students with anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and resilience.
- Work alongside teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral leads to implement support strategies.
- Assist with behaviour support plans and interventions.
- Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, coping strategies and positive social skills.
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to school staff where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals in education, care, youth work or mental health settings.
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A passion for supporting young people's wellbeing and development.
- Understanding of SEMH needs, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice is desirable.
- Relevant backgrounds in psychology, counselling, youth work, social care, support work or education are highly welcomed.
