Mental Health Support Worker - Support Young People to Thrive
Tradewind Recruitment is looking for compassionate and committed Mental Health Support Workers to work within welcoming school settings in Corby. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve emotional wellbeing and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
- Support students with anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, emotional regulation and wellbeing needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral leads to implement support strategies.
- Assist with behaviour support plans and targeted interventions.
- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, coping strategies and positive social skills.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals in education, care, youth work or mental health settings.
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing and development.
- Understanding of SEMH needs, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice is desirable.
- Backgrounds in psychology, counselling, youth work, social care, support work or education are highly valued.
