Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (FY Postcode area) Salary: Paid to Scale £102.83 - £122.83 per day, dependent on experience) Contract Type: Temporary (Long-Term), Full-Time Start Date: Immediate / September 2026

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join a vibrant secondary school in Blackpool as a Pastoral Cover Lead. This unique role combines classroom management with front line pastoral support for students aged 11-16 (KS3 & KS4).

The Role: Impacting Lives in the Classroom

In this position, you will be a visible, supportive presence across the school. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Cover: Delivering pre-set lessons across various subjects, ensuring students remain on task and engaged in a safe learning environment.

  • Pastoral Mentoring: Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with students to address barriers to learning, such as attendance, behaviour, or emotional well-being.

  • De-escalation: Using your youth work background to manage challenging situations with empathy, patience, and firm boundaries.

  • Collaboration: Working alongside Heads of Year and the Safeguarding team to ensure the "Blackpool student" is supported holistically.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: A proven track record in youth work, community coaching, or school-based pastoral roles.

  • Resilience: The ability to manage classroom dynamics and command respect from students aged 11-16.

  • Adaptability: Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

  • Local Knowledge: An understanding of the specific challenges and rewards of working with young people in the Blackpool area.

  • Qualifications: A Degree or Level 3+ qualification in Youth Work, Education, or Social Care is highly desirable.
